You would think after an entire day or week of designing at my job, I would grow sick of it. I guess you know you're doing something you love when you really don't get tired of it. However, normally I do like to get out and enjoy my evenings after working all day on a computer. But this summer, with our insane heat wave that has just continued for months on end, I've found myself back on my computer at night. There's not much on TV anyway.
I haven't just been killing time, though. Most nights I actually do beneficial things. I've done a few projects here and there for The Consortium over the summer, which is the artist's group I'm a part of. Most of it has been book cover designs. I've also worked on editing pictures that I've taken for photo sessions. I've been averaging 2-3 sessions per month, which isn't much but considering I do this as a hobby, and not my profession, it's enough for me! But some evenings, when I have no extra work to do for anyone else, I sit down and go through a photoshop tutorial. Maybe it's something I want to learn to do better or maybe it's just playing around with settings for hours and seeing what I can create. There are a lot of resources online that you can use to help you learn how to design better. I've used a few but one of my favorites is PSD Tuts. There are some killer designs on there and it's helped me figure things out I never knew you could do in Photoshop. Anyway, here are some of my Summer creations. The first two are the book cover designs I did and the others are just me playing around in Photoshop.
